Dr. Sako Karakozian's Bio

So, here’s a little about myself! My first name is Sako, pronounced like ‘taco’ – I come from Armenian/Lebanese descent but was born and raised right here in the San Fernando Valley. After high school, I took several courses at Santa Monica College, where I was elected president of the Honor’s Society and a recipient of the SMC Leadership Grant. From there, I transferred to UC San Diego, graduating with a major in Physiology and Neuroscience.

I attended the globally recognized New York University College of Dentistry, during which time I held several board positions on the executive student council and selected as the University’s national representative for the American Student Dental Association. After receiving my Doctorate in Dental Surgery in 2007, I moved to Las Vegas where I treated patients in private office while simultaneously teaching at the UNLV School of Dental Medicine. Since then, I’ve volunteered my time with several non-profits, including Give Kids a Smile, and I was a Clinical Director for the Special Olympics Special Smiles program.

Random Facts

I love being a dentist, but in my spare time there’s nothing I enjoy more than meeting new people and exploring the world, whether it’s through music, art, or travel!

I’ve climbed glaciers in Patagonia, hiked mountains in Sri Lanka, experienced the World Cup in South Africa, dove the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, I was a bus driver in San Diego, a nightclub promoter in Los Angeles, I’ve been in a series of Listerine commercials, and I’m currently a dental consultant to “The Doctors” TV Show, having made multiple appearances over the last 3 seasons.

But my passion in life will always be in dentistry, and my sole purpose is to serve you by guiding you towards the best decisions regarding your oral health, all while having fun and keeping you as comfortable as possible! And after all that craziness, if you’d still like to get to know me more, you’ll usually find me hanging around Studio City – so feel free to say hello!
